PLANS TO ADDRESS TARGET POPULATION

King of Kings has and will continue to address the needs of its Target Population taking into consideration when the need arises of cultural, racial and linguistic differences among this population. This population consists of African Americans, Hispanics, South East Asians, and some Caucasians.

The King of Kings’ Pregnant and Postpartum Women’s Program currently utilizes and will continue to utilize a model of treatment that is sometimes mutual and collective. This phase of treatment offers a close-knit recovery community consisting of staff, volunteers, and peers who, with staff guidance and direction, form a culturally supportive and sensitive help group.

In 1990, the agency began providing treatment services for pregnant and postpartum women and infants; many of who belong to disadvantaged and disenfranchise groups as identified in the Fresno County Master Plan to Reduce Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, 1991.

Although the Master Plan emphasizes at-risk population, it does not exclude the remaining pregnant and postpartum community. Therefore, a multi-culture plan has been implemented and will continue to be utilized.

The Substance Abuse Treatment Programs will continue to develop and implement individualized culturally specific Treatment Plans which establishes a specific recovery program of treatment services for physical and emotional health, family interactions, vocational and social areas of living as well as an opportunity to participate in multi-cultural recovery fellowship.

  • Goal #1:
  • To identify in order to recognize issues and areas of great concern of the client.

Through the assessment, the intake process, and areas of sensitivity (i.e. - diet, family structure, language, etc.) our goal-oriented Treatment Plans and a scheduled program of therapeutic services follow this process. The specific needs of individual will be taken into consideration when formulating the Treatment Plan. Staff will be responsible for the coordination of their services and support systems to insure their full and efficient utilization.

  • Goal #2:
  • To provide culturally specific case coordination to ensure that community services are efficiently and effectively utilized in each participant’s Treatment Plan. Each individualized and culturally specific Treatment Plan will reflect a true evaluation of treatment needs for each client admitted.

  • Goal #3:
  • To develop culturally specific individualized Continuity of Care/ Discharge Plans/Exit Plans that will connect clients with ongoing treatment and identify how problems addressed in treatment will be resolved in long-term recovery.

  • Goal #4:
  • To reduce the probability of a relapse through the provision of continuity of care and aftercare.

King of Kings since its inception has dedicated itself to identify and address the real needs of not only the individual, but his or her family as well. The need for services is often indicative of other related problems such as unemployment, housing, low nutritional standards, etc.

Substance abuse is one of the most pervasive social problems confronting our society, counties, cities, and communities. Substance abuse has a devastating impact on our country’s most valuable resource, people. The complexity of this problem challenges every aspect of our business and industry, criminal justice system, education, health, political and social services systems, as well as the fundamental unit of our society, the family.
